Kent, England The Viscount De L'Isle, M.B.E., V.C., K.G. Lord De L'Isle's family received Penshurst Place as a gift from King Edward VI. A romantic air imbues the private palace with an original 14th century baronial hall. The late Lord of Penshurst, William Sidney, held the Victoria Cross, Britain's highest award for supreme gallantry in military action, and was a Knight of the Garter and former Governor General of Australia.
